Question: .... > I just replaced my stock cam with a mild street cam and now I have a clicking sound coming from under the valve cover , I checked the rocker arms and replaced a broken wavy washer but it still makes the faint clicking sound. The valves clearance was set to the .006 clearance suggested . Do you think I should reset them to .004 instead of the .006.

Answer: .... > "No" to setting the valves to .004. If the cam card said .006 then that is what they should be set at. Some aftermarket cams for some reason will cause the rockers to move away from the rocker stand and when  the valve closes it will click back. That is most likely why you found a broken wavy washer. The only way to overcome this problem is to install solid rocker shafts that do away with the wavy washers. You can then set up the rocker arm side clearance to .004/.006" and the ticking sound will go away. If you want to check that the side slap is the problem, you can remove the valve cover and with the motor running apply pressure to the side of the rocker. you can feel it slap and the sound will change when pressure is applied. ( you might want to use a block of wood instead of your finger) Vic.
