Ideal VW Oil temp. Is 180' to 190' & 200' Max     Control Oil Temp--> *ck

220' deg. should be Max. red/line as Head studs start pulling at 300'

Lean Carb Jetting can increase oil temp. 30' easily.

Deck Lid Stand-Offs lower temp. Approximate. 20'

VW Oil Temp. Varies directly with the Air Temp.

                    Oil Temperature

VW Oil cooler needs lots of air and will not cool properly when aftermarket cooler is placed on the
frame. A better place is in front of the Air intake.    Dual Coolers-->*ck

It makes a difference where on the block your picking up the oil temp. Check the gage to see if it is reading accurate. Timing and Jetting make a big difference. Check out these things 1st before you start adding coolers and changing fans, pulleys etc. High Compression motors run slightly hotter.

Make sure the sound dreading on the fire wall is tight. If loose it can pull back an close off the fan intake. Make sure no rags, critters, or built up dirt are in the fan or on the cylinders. If the fan housing was designed to use the shutters, make sure they are in place and working. It is far better to tie them wide open then use ones that might not open properly.

If you play in the mud it's a good Idea to wash the fan and cylinders. Start with a cold motor. Start it up and put a good stream of water in the fan intake, rev the motor and the fan will sling the water across the cylinders and clean off the mud. Note: Never do this if the motor is hot. If you play in tall grass, use a large area screen over the intake.

                     Oil Pressure
